Selecting soft edge objects using Select and Mask
- [Instructor] In order to select a soft edged subject like this dog, I'm going to start with the quick selection tool. And that's because I want to make sure that I select everything that is the subject in this case, the dog, but I don't want to select anything that is not the dog. So I don't want to select any of the transitional areas that contain both the dog's fur and the background. So I'm going to hold down the Option key and just deselect this as part of that selection. So again, just trying to select the dog, but none of those transitional areas, okay. Once I've got my selection, I'll use the select and mask, I can click out on the options bar, or we could go into the select menu and choose select and mask. On the left-hand side, we have a number of different tools. You don't actually have to create a selection before choosing select and mask, you can come in here and use the quick select tool or the object select…
