Join Chris Orwig for an in-depth discussion in this video Sculpting dimension in the muscles, part of Photoshop CS5: Athletic Retouching Projects.
Now that we have done some really basic retouching, next what I want to do…is work on dimension by working on the shadows and the highlights and this…gets really interesting.…Here is what we're going to do.…We're going to click in our Adjustments panel.…Then we're going to create a Curves adjustment.…We want to focus in on the area that we're going to be working on, say the…shadows, and then we'll go ahead and take a look at these shadows.…You notice that these are little bit more in the mid-range of our histogram.…As we position the cursor over that area, it's a little bit more in here.…So let's go ahead and click relatively close to that area and drag down.…
We want to darken that up.…Next, what we're going to do is just darken it up perhaps a little bit more there.…Then we'll go ahead and invert the mask.…Go to the Mask panel. Click on Invert.…Now grab your Brush tool.…I want to make sure you're using a really soft edge brush, no hardness there,…and Opacity, which is really low.…Let's go down to about 20% here.…
