Returns and breaks
- [Instructor] Here are some points about using returns, line breaks, and no break. Here on my canvas is some paragraph text, and I know it's paragraph text because when I click in it with my type tool, we see the dotted line indicating the type area. If I want to take the word no down to the next line, if I press return in front of that, you can see that it creates this unexpected space between it and the preceding text, and that is because on my paragraph panel, I have this attribute, spacing before, applied. Now if I need this attribute then to achieve what I'm after instead of a return, I need a soft return, or line break. I'll press shift + return, that retains the text as part of the same paragraph, but just carries the text to the right of the cursor down to the next line. Let me just put that back how it was. A different scenario, let's say that under no circumstances do I want these two words to be broken across a line break, I can then come to the character panel and choose…
