Replacing a Linked Smart Object
- So all is well with our product composite. And then we get word from the powers that be that they've decided to change the name of the product. And so, of course, we have to change the label. Not an uncommon occurrence. Now, we could do that ourselves simply by double-clicking on the Merge Bottle smart object layer here. And then, once that opens up, double-clicking on the linked label art smart object layer. But we're going to approach this in a different way. So let's suppose that there was another person in the graphics department for this company, and it was their job to work on the label art. Since we have a linked smart object for the label, they can go into that file independently of our composite file and make the changes, and then those changes will be updated into the composite file. Let's check out how this works. I'm going to go to the File menu here in Photoshop, and I'm going to choose Open. And I'm going to go into the chapter 3 folder of the exercise files. And I'm…
