Do you have a raw image where the sky is blown out or underexposed? How can you nondestructively recover the sky in Adobe Photoshop CC 2017? Can it be recovered? In this video, Richard Harrington walks you through how to recover the sky in an image that is not exposed properly in Adobe Photoshop CC 2017.
- One of the biggest advantages of shooting RAW…is the ability to recover detail in the sky.…A lot of times, the camera lacks…the dynamic range that your eye has.…While you can clearly see things in the scene,…the camera can't.…That's because it's very difficult to expose for things…like the landscape or the subject…when they're standing against a bright background.…Usually what happens is the subject becomes properly exposed…and the background gets blown out.…Or the opposite happens, you expose for the sky…but everything else is in the shadows.…
Well, I tend to prefer to expose for details…and I'll show you how easy it is with a RAW file…to recover quite a bit of information in the skies.…Let's go ahead and open up this image here…and I'll show you the basic recovery.…We're going to explore more things…a little bit later for advanced options.…For now, I can recover the highlights…which tends to be the brighter areas in the sky.…You'll also notice that you can click…right on the histogram here to drag or move.…
