- [Instructor] All right now, so far, everything I've told you about interpolation methods may seem like so much highly theoretical mumbo-jumbo. Which is why in this movie, I'm going to provide you with some practical advice about exactly which interpolation mode to use when in the event you're down sampling an image. So this advice applies to down sampling only. We'll be discussing the best way to up sample in the next movie. And to help make sense of things, I've created this diagram file right here which shows each of the five major down sampling modes. That is to say nearest neighbor, bilinear, bicubic. bicubic smoother, and bicubic sharper. We're not looking at the to preserve details modes because they only apply to up sampling.
