Real-world rules for downsampling

- [Instructor] All right now, so far, everything I've told you about interpolation methods may seem like so much highly theoretical mumbo jumbo. Which is why in this movie, I'm going to provide you with some practical advise about exactly which interpolation mode to use when in the event you're downsampling an image. So this advise applies to downsampling only. We'll be discussing the best way to up sample in the next movie. And to help make sense of things, I've created this diagram file right here. Which shows each of the five major downsampling modes. That is to say nearest neighbor, bilinear, bicubic, bicubic smoother and bicubic sharper. We're not looking at the two preserved details modes because they only apply to upsampling. Now, to create each one of these images, I actually applied the image size command twice in a row.
