Rasterizing type

- [Instructor] This movie is about rasterizing your type and the implications of that. Certain things that you to type will cause it to be rasterized. For example, if you want to apply a filter, and I'm going to come and apply one of the distort filters, I'll get this warning message, the type layer must be rasterized, and if rasterized, it will no longer be editable. So let's say I go ahead and rasterize my type, I can now apply my filter, but that is the point of no return. If I want to edit that type, as type, I'm out of luck. And if we take a look at my layers panel, we see that the T denoting it as a type layer, is no longer there. So I'm going to undo that, and instead, this time, and I'll choose the same filter. I will first convert it to a smart object. I get the same options with the filter, my result looks the same, but now on my layers panel, my layer has this smart object badge, and beneath that is my smart filter, and I can turn this smart filter on and off.
