Join Julieanne Kost for an in-depth discussion in this video Quick Select and layer mask touchups, part of Photoshop CC 2017 Essential Training: The Basics.
- [Instructor] Let's take a look at how Photoshop's…quick select tool can help us in making selections.…On the toolbar, if we click and hold,…you'll notice that it's nested with the magic wand tool,…and that's because both of these tools select…based on color and tone,…but the quick select tool has a huge advantage…over the magic wand tool, in that it has…edge detection built into it.…I'll select quick select, and if I want to get…a little bit bigger of a brush,…I'll use the right bracket key,…and then click and drag down in the jagged area…in order to select it.…
Now, you don't have to select it all at once,…you can release the cursor,…Photoshop will automatically select the second icon here…to add to the selection, so we can continue clicking,…and dragging around our image,…in order to select the jacket.…Now, if we select too much, we can hold down the option key,…and that will toggle us to the subtract from selection,…so that I can remove that portion of the wall right there.…I'll release the option key, Photoshop toggles me…
