I'd like to leave you with a few thoughts on post-production techniques for jewelry photographs. I'm going to go through the four photographs we made and start by showing you the raw file on each one, and then show you the completed file and tell you a little bit about what I did for retouching. Here is the initial shot we made of the turquoise ring. And the things I want to address. You can see it obviously needs to be cropped, there's lots of dead space around the ring. If you look at the front of the ring right here, there's a little bit of tarnish there that I didn't pick up when I was cleaning it. So I'm going to try to take care of that digitally. The other thing that concerns me is on this side of the ring. The setting that holds the turquoise in place, tonally is not getting much separation from the background. So I think we're losing a little definition on the ring itself. And then I'd also like to make an overall levels adjustment to make it a little bit more dramatic. So…
