Point size and resolution
- [Instructor] Photoshop lets you specify your type in points or in pixels and they equate to each other on a one to one basis, but there is an important distinction between the two, and it's this. Point size is relative to your image resolution, whereas pixels are an absolute number. Here's what I mean by that. I'm going to come to my layers panel and make sure I have my type layer selected and then click on my character panel. We see that my type is at 48 points. I'll now come to my image menu and to image size. My current image resolution is 300. I have resample unchecked so I'm retaining the same number of pixels in this image, but I'm just changing the resolution. I'm going to change the resolution to 72, click OK. Look what's happened to my point size, it's now more than four times as big. I'm now going to come to my preferences and units and rulers.
