- Hi. My name's Rich Harrington. And welcome to this Adobe Photoshop class, where we're going to be talking about Selections. Selections are an essential technique. They really allow you to control which pixels are chosen in an image. And this is key. If you want to be able to make precise adjustments. Perhaps it's to deal with things like transparency, or fine edges with hair. Or maybe you want to make a selection, based on a color or illuminance value. Photoshop contains many different selection tools. Now some of these tools are super basic and easy to get things done with right away.
Like the marquee to select a broad area. Or the magic wand to click on a color and select similar values. But there are other commands that are quite useful. Like the Calculations command to combine multiple selections together. Or the ability to use the select and mask command to really do precise refinement. Before you generate the selection. In any case, knowing how to use the right tool, at the right time and the right way, means that you'll get the results that you're expecting. In this course, we're going to cover Photoshop at all levels.
We're going to look at tools that are very easy to use for a beginner. As well as advanced commands that even top pros will find useful. We're going to take a very deep dive and explore how to use this. And you'll find practical hands-on examples to help you master the skills. My name's Rich Harrington. Let's get started.
