Skill Level Intermediate
- Hello, I'm Tim Grey. I've spent the last 15 years helping photographers master their digital photography workflow. I've written over a dozen books and hundreds of magazine articles, have spoken at countless seminars and workshops, and I've produced more than a few video training titles. During that time, working with a variety of software tools, I've witnessed a lot of change. While change can sometimes cause a bit of trepidation, I've always seen changes in the tools available to us as photographers, to represent new opportunities. That's certainly the case every time a new version of Adobe Photoshop is released.
And I very much enjoy exploring all the new features to see how I can incorporate them into my own photography. In this training title I'm going to guide you through many of the new features in Photoshop CS6, making it easy for you to transition to this latest update to a venerable tool for photographers. One of the first things you'll notice about Photoshop CS6 is that it looks a little different from prior versions. The interface is a little darker, which I think makes it easier to focus on your photographic image rather than on the various controls available to you.
There are also some changes in other elements of the interface that I'll show you. When working with Photoshop there tends to be a bit of a focus on the tools used to alter the appearance of an image. And of course, there are new features and new tools on this front. For example, we'll spend some time exploring the new approach offered by the Crop tool, with a variety of options for how the tool looks and behaves. We'll also explore the new Content-Aware Move tool which adds some new possibilities for image clean up that go beyond what is possible with the Spot Healing Brush and Patch Tools, for example.
These are just a few examples of some of the new features to look forward to in Photoshop CS6. Throughout the lessons in this video training title, I'll show you many more and give you some tips and tricks on how to best incorporate these new features into your workflow. So join me as we learn about all the latest, great features in Photoshop CS6.
