Painting the sunlight, part 2: Body

- [Instructor] The head of the creature is finished now, and I would like to proceed with the body. I'm moving my reference sphere here, down next to the body so that it can serve me as a reference when I'm shading on the arms, the body, the breast and the tail and everything. Okay, so I'm going to select the body and the fingers now, and let's just start by establishing a good mid-tone everywhere, and I'm kind of ignoring the black that is in front here, and also the breast, fur, those will be painted later. Basically, what I'm trying to do here is, establishing the main shading very quickly and then adjust it everywhere where it needs adjustment. So, we are working with the direct light source here. That is creating a lot of cast shadow. We can take that to our advantage by just covering up all the portions that receive the cast shadow with black. These are the portions that we don't have to shade at all, because no light from the direct light source is hitting these parts. Also…
