- [Instructor] Hi and welcome to design tools weekly … with me Tony Harmer. … Now one of the frustrations of many designers … involved in packaging is that … they need to present a visual mock up to clients … and that either involves making a physical version … and photography or having 3D artists create a version. … Origami is a plugin to Adobe Illustrator … that folds up dye lines or nets you may refer to them as, … to 3D objects and then can render or export them. … Origami can be used for dye line verification … and connects directly to Illustrator. … So you can see your layout in 3D immediately … without exporting anything. … It has a really simple user interface … and it's very straightforward. … It uses layer names and path names to configure dye lines. … So the illustrator projects … don't depend on origami once finished. … It has a paper type editor … that lets you specify paper thickness and other parameters. … And you can even include foil finishes. … There's also a dye line generator and you can export …
