- [Instructor] In this chapter, we'll start by restoring the easy to fix color and tone, and make way for the major restoration work. In order to see the image more clearly, we'll need to do some initial tone, color, and fading corrections. Make sure you've opened stained color 01 and move over to the layers palate. We'll duplicate the background layer so we've got three copies. Two, and three. And the top layer we're going to label original. And we're going to lock that layer and hide that layer. And I'm doing that because I'm going to keep that original and the background layer is available to me to use certain techniques that we use in restoration. And the delete key can instigate the delete content where fill, so when we're patching, healing, and cloning our way around the image, restoring patches and damage, the delete key will help keep our flow swift and at some point I might want to use that, that only works on the background layer.
