Discover the new Pattern Preview mode in Photoshop that allows you to use objects to quickly and easily create patterns and preview in real time—a must for textile and wall-covering designers.
- [Tony] Hi, and welcome … to design tools weekly with me, Tony Homo. … What we're going to take a look at here … is the relatively new pattern preview inside of Photoshop. … It was actually introduced at max in October, 2020, … and just kind of tucked away. … What I've got here is just a letter document. … So letter sized eight and half by 11. … And what I'm going to do is just zoom out on that slightly. … Not that that's particularly necessary, … but just so you can see the document bounds. … And then I'm going to go to the view menu … and I'm going to choose pattern preview, … just here in the middle. … And what will happen is, first of all, … I'll get a warning here or piece of advice, really, … that says it works best with smart objects … and transforming pixels may show unexpected results. … However, you can actually draw with it. … So what I'm going to do here … is just make a really large selection, larger than the tile. … And actually you can see there kind of what's happening, …
