Loading a video into Flixel
- While an image sequence is quite useful you can also load a video file into Flixel. To do this, just choose file new. If you want to create a new video file on your device itself you can choose new from camera and use a camera that's attached to your computer if it can connect or the built-in web camera. USB cameras or older FireWire cameras will likely work. Let's just choose new however and I'll select a movie file. In this case, I'll grab a shot of a birthday cupcake and choose import. You'll now need to give this a name so let's save it in the stages folder. I'll call it cake underscore one and I recommend optimizing the movie for iOS for broader compatibility. I'll click save. It will now import the video file into a new project and optimize those frames. Now it optimizes the video so that'll play back smoother on mobile devices. You might be a little bit confused here 'cause initially it appears frozen, but that's because we haven't revealed the action. If I grab the cursor…
