Lightroom CC Classic folder tips

- [Chris] Hi, I'm Chris Orwig, and welcome to another episode of Photo Tools Weekly. In this week's episode, I want to highlight a workflow tip that I just recently learned related to a new feature in Lightroom Classic CC, and this is a workflow tip that has helped me out in so many ways. It's really simple, but once you see it, I think you'll start to see how you're going to actually use this technique. All right, well here's what happens for me. In my Lightroom catalog, I have a lot of folders. I mean, I have folders that go back years and years. And sometimes it's kind of tedious to scroll up and down and try to figure out where exactly you were. So one of the first things I want to highlight is that if you're searching through your images and if you come upon an image that you realize, hey, I want to work on this. I want to go to this folder. What you can do is you can right click or Control click on the image. Then you can choose to go to Folder in Library and it will jump to that particular folder. You can see this one here with these photographs inside of that folder. Now another thing that you can do, which is the new feature, is when you get a folder that say, you want to work on, and here I'll go ahead and select a new folder, and let's say this is the one that I want to work on because I need to send out these images to the client, or I need to finish processing them or whatever it is. You can right click or Control click the folder. And here we have a new menu item. It's Add Color Label, and here I'll go ahead and add a label. Let's say, yellow. I'll go to a different folder. Right click or Control click, Add Color Label, and I'll choose red. Now of course you want to think about what the color label means for you so that then when you're scrolling through your folders and you see that, you say, oh, okay. Great, I need to go back to this folder. I need to do some work on these photographs, or I need to process the images or whatever it is. And the other thing that you can do is after you have the little color label, you can go up to the very top of the folders panel. And this is the cool part. Click on that magnifying glass icon and then just choose Labeled Folders. You don't even need to type anything out, just Labeled Folders. And what it will do is it will only show you the folders which have a label. And the reason why this is so helpful is because you can label a couple folders to say, hey, I need to work on these, then you can hide everything else. You can kind of clear away the rest of the clutter, really focus on those, and then when you're done with that work, just go back here and just say, hey, show me all my folders. And then they all come back. All right, well, there you have it. A quick workflow tip using Lightroom Classic CC. I hope that you found this one to be helpful and even more. I hope that you have a fantastic rest of your day. Thanks for joining me. I'll see you next time. Bye for now.
