Light diffusion techniques

- Quite often when shooting, you're going to want to diffuse your light, especially if you're working with artificial light sources. Whether we're about LED lights, on-camera flash, or even big studio lights, the actual light source itself is very, very small. And so, you're going to want to diffuse it to make it bigger and softer. And there's lots of ways you can do this. For example, here we have a 5-in-1 reflection and diffusion panel and this allows us to diffuse our light, making it nice and big, matching the size of the panel itself. Or you could diffuse light with something like this. This is a photographic diffusion panel. It is basically a big, white sheet. You can use something like this, or even a plain old white bed sheet will do in a pinch. Or if you're really on a budget, you could use a shower curtain. Another way to diffuse light is through something like a softbox like you see over my shoulder here. That's going to diffuse light in a very nice controlled way. Now…
