Join Lee Varis for an in-depth discussion in this video Lesson 4: Basic sharpening pt. 3, part of Beyond Skin: Going Deeper with Photoshop CS3.
I'm going to talk about another sharpening technique that I use for more…aggressive sharpening and this is something that I've dubbed Octave Sharpening,…and I'll explain that in a moment.…Here I have an image that has some motion blur combined with just kind of, just…missed the focus with auto focus during the action here.…And I'm going to need to really sharpen this up.…So my first move here is I'm going to make four copies.…
To duplicate, just drag that on to the background, so I've got four copies of this.…And we're going to build the sharpening up from the bottom to the top.…And what we want to do, start with our sharpening, again, change Luminosity mode there.…And I'm going to apply the strongest sharpening to the bottom layer.…So let's zoom in here, I will show it at 100%.…
Let's go down to Sharpen > Unsharp Mask.…Now the strongest sharpening, I'm going to use the smallest Radius I can.…I want to have the tightest halos, and this is going to pick up all the little…details and bring them out.…
