Isolating elements in the Hoh Rain Forest first shot

- We've got our tripod setup. Now remember, HIPS. H stands for hand-holding to compose. I moved around the ferns with an ISO of 6400 and an aperture of 5.6 It's so dark in here, that's how I had to get a fast shutter speed so that I could really review my images. This fern in particular is working really well for me, as well as the V within the vine maple. Now I'm on my tripod ready to go. I, isolate the subject. I've got the fern clearly in the foreground. I've got this beautiful opening of the fern, nice V shape. Ferns go back as far as the eye can see and then we have our triangle clamshell from the vine maple. So I've isolated the subject. P, polarization. It is huge in here. What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take two images: One polarized, and one not polarized. And you'll be able to compare the two. What you'll notice is in the non-polarized image you'll have incredible glare. These green ferns are almost white, in the polarized image you reduce that glare, therefore showing the…
