Bert Monroy transforms a set of ordinary photographs into an extraordinary work of art featuring a labyrinth-like maze.
- [Voiceover] In this Dreamscape we're going to create this strange world where these two young girls are trying to escape their imprisonment, going through this maze and trying to scale the wall to see what's there. Now, what made this all up? Very simple. The maze was a simple puzzle taken right from a book that was extruded using the 3D functions of Photoshop. The structures was two of those throw-away shots from vacations. Perfect, structure, great cons, a little manipulation, using again the features of Photoshop gave us exactly what we needed.
The girls, well that's the only thing that was actually posed. I just set them up, my neighbor's daughters, and set them up in a way that I envisioned. I took the shot, and then I had to manipulate them to get dots out of the pants, change the color and so on, and pull them out from their background in order to have them fulfill the overall scene, there they are, trying to get away from this weird world. Let's sit back and look at this series and see how this entire image was created. It's really simple once you understand what Photoshop can do.
