Join Deke McClelland for an in-depth discussion in this video Introducing the first Photoshop Creative Cloud update, part of Photoshop CS6 New Features.
Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop 13 are the same thing; 13.1 however, is an upgrade that's only available to those folks who subscribe to Adobe's pay as you go solution, which is the Creative Cloud. Now having explained the unfortunate part of things, for those of you who are Creative Cloud subscribers, here is what you get in Photoshop 13.1. You can now save JPG files that measures 60,000 Pixels wide by 60,000 Pixels tall, which if I'm doing the math right is 3.6 Billon Pixels.
So I imagine a lot us are going to take advantage of that one. Your recently-opened images list in the File Manu can now be 100 files long. They brought back the resolution value, which had gone missing for the Crop tool. It's now back. And all new versions of Photoshop are compatible with MacBook Pros with the high-resolution Retina displays. Now that stuff I'm not going to show you, I'm telling you, FYI. Here's the stuff I'm going to show you. I have got 8 movies in which I'll show off the really great new features. For example, you can apply Liquify and the Blur Gallery to smart objects, totally awesome feature.
We have Conditional Actions, so if one condition exists, do this, if not, then do something different. We have got Global Default Styles, which means that you can save Character and Paragraph Styles with all images in the future. And then we have some enhanced 3-D features, specifically where lighting is concerned and Image Based Lights as well. Here, let me show you exactly how these features work.
- Enabling auto recovery and background saving
- Filtering layers in the Layers panel
- Modifying multiple layers at once
- Applying layer effects to groups
- Working with the Content-Aware tools
- Redeveloping photos in Camera Raw 7
- Creating depth of field with the Blur Gallery
- Correcting wide-angle panoramas
- Filling and stroking shape layers
