Introducing Smart Filters

In the last movie, in the previous chapter, I've started to introduce the topic of how we can work with filters and how we can use filters in order to apply some creative and fascinating effects to our photographs. Well, here in this chapter, we're going to dig deeper into this topic. And let's start off by working with this image here. Typically, what you want to do is you want either apply the filter to a duplicate layer or you want to apply it as a smart filter. Now we'll be talking about smart filters more later. So for now, let's go ahead and simply duplicate this Background layer.

We can do so by pressing Command+J on a Mac or Ctrl+J on Windows. Next, I'm going to name this new layer, filter. Now we can access the various filters by going to the Filter pull-down menu. You'll notice there are different groups of filter which allow us to either blur or distort. We can add noise or we can render different effects or we can sharpen. There are so many things...
