- The white balance is one of the most essential things that you need to get right for a picture to look correct. After all, white is the basis for all light, and if white is off, then you'll get unwanted color casts in other areas. Now, many people shoot with an auto white balance, and this works pretty well. Most of the time the camera guesses correctly. But sometimes it doesn't get it right, maybe due to mixed lighting. Or perhaps you were shooting with a preset and you didn't get it right in camera. Well, let me show you how easy this is to fix. We'll focus on RAW files first, but then I'll show you a technique for non-RAW images as well. I've got two images to open up here. And let's take a look at the white balance here. Now in this case what I want to tackle is first working with presets. You'll see that the image is as shot.
