How do I fix an Image that's too bright?
- Getting the exposure exactly right is often handled by the camera. But if you've got the wrong setting selected or you're in a tough lighting situation, sometimes things can be a little off. Let's explore fixing exposure, both with the raw file, which makes it substantially easier, and with a traditional file as well. In this case, I've opened up a raw image. And if I look at the histogram, I see that it's skewed pretty far to the right. You can turn on the clipping indicators if you want here, so you can better judge. And the red overlays here are telling us that certain parts of the image are totally clipped. For example, if I move that exposure up, you'll see that those red areas grow, indicating a pure white value or clipping. Now, even though the image is barely clipping, it just lacks detail here.
