How do I add a vignette?

- Sometimes as you work with a photo, you might choose to add a vignette. This can selectively darken or lighten part of an image. Let me show you how. In this first example, we have a raw file. And one of the things you can do is choose to crop to a targeted size. So choose the resolution or shape that you want and make the basic crop. In this case, I've got a five by seven. Now, if you go to the Effects tab, you'll see the ability for Post Crop Vignetting. This will recognize the crop and allow you to lighten or darken the edges based upon the new crop that you've applied inside of Camera Raw. This will allow you to adjust the overall blending point there, you can see the midpoint for the clear zone, as well as the roundness and the feather, or transition. I find that a high feather value tends to make a more natural-looking vignette. And if we compare this here, you see that the darkening of the edge works quite well.
