GIF vs. movie: The delivery detabte

- When it comes to delivering a cinemagraph there are really two major choices to make. Are you going to deliver it using the animated GIF or GIF format, people refer to it both ways, or are you going to use a movie based format? Think of it this way, if you're going to use the GIF or GIF that's a very broadly compatible file type. It typically has smaller file size but it's not as efficient at compression compared to a movie format. This is a series of still images delivered with less color and usually a smaller frame size. On the other hand, the H.264, and the newer H.625 video formats are well optimized for the web. H.264 and H.265 are frequently delivered using platforms like Vimeo or YouTube, and many mobile devices have built in chips that allows for real time decoding or smoother playback with less drain on the battery.
