Join Deke McClelland for an in-depth discussion in this video Four tips for underwater photography, part of Enhancing Underwater Photos with Photoshop.
- Now as I mentioned in the introduction…I am not a professional photographer.…But I have been shooting underwater…for nearly twenty years, and over that time…I've gotten pretty adept.…So I figured some of you might be interested…in a little shooting advice…in which case I have four tips,…all of which are unique to scuba photography.…First, watch your buoyancy and your breathing.…Unless you're neutrally buoyant,…meaning absolutely weightless,…you can literally crash into or float away…from the thing that you're shooting.…
Also, breathing affects buoyancy.…When you fill your lungs, you rise.…When you empty them, you sink.…So I tend to stick with slow, small and shallow breaths.…Second, watch your depth.…Personal example, I love swimming with turtles.…I started following this one at sixty feet…next thing I knew, I had sunk below a hundred.…I was fine, but those kinds of rapid changes in depth…are risky on a no-compression dive.…Third, keep an eye out for your dive masters.…Especially if they're native to the area.…
