Focusing on hair lines and hair shape
With this image, we are going to concentrate on the hairline. By adjusting this uneven feel along the edge here, we can help to frame the face in a way that keeps focus on it. So, let's go ahead and start buring in some of those edges a bit. So, Shift+Cmd+N is going to give us a new layer. Let's go down to soft light, 50% gray, hit OK. And let's get our Dodge and Burn tool. So we have this set on mid tones and exposure of 10%. Now let's just zoom in to right about here. Not too close, because we want to keep good focus on what's happening overall. And by holding down Option, I'm going to be able to utilize the Burn function of this tool. So right away I want to come in here and I just want to burn in right in here a little bit. And then, what we're also going to do is, dodge this area right here a little bit. Just to lighten this up a touch. In a sense we're going to be shifting the density closer to the hairline. Just dodge that in and just back and fourth like that and let's burn it…
