Extruding the outline to a 3D object

- So now we've got the outline for our pawn, let's go ahead and turn this into a 3D object. Even though it's a path, we first need to make a new Layer. And we'll call this Layer pawn because even when you have a path as your source, Photoshop will still turn the current Layer into the 3D object. We can now go to 3D and choose New 3D Extrusion from Selected Path. And we see this dialog. You're about to create a 3D layer. "Would you like to switch to the 3D workspace?" Well, yes we would, so we'll click on Yes. And you can see how that empty Layer called pawn now contains our 3D object. We can hide the original pawn behind, and we want to view this a bit more from the side so we can see what's going on more clearly. We don't want to turn the object itself, instead we want to move the Camera. And we move the Camera using these controls down at the bottom here. So there is our default position. It has simply extruded this pawn. Let's go onto the Properties panel. And in the Mesh section…
