Exploring the Shoot & Sell app - Photoshop Tutorial

- [Instructor] We've had the opportunity to explore different aspect ratios and panorama squares, so thinking outside the box, not just being limited by our camera. And as well as exploring diptychs and triptychs and even more complex clusters and splits, now I want to share with you an iPad app. It's called Shoot and Sell. And what makes it so brilliant is we're going to get to play with these different formats and simulate what a panorama on metal would look like above a beautiful dining room table. What a triptych will appear over somebody's bedroom. So, it's just a fantastic app and it takes a little while to get used to, so I want to run you through all the great features. Okay, so I've got it opened up on my iPad, and we're recording directly off that iPad so you can see exactly what's happening. And we're going to look at the top section here. I've got display, image, and edit wall on the upper left. And in the upper right, I have some labels and they don't actually say anything. So let's start in the upper right. The first one is prices. You have the ability to put prices on the prints that you do and this is excellent if you're sharing these with clients. For me, I don't work with that because I'm, what I'm trying to do is simulate what it would look like. So I don't add prices. Then you have the Help Support menu. You can always watch tutorial, which is great, and there's a place that links you to an email if you have any questions. Third one over is the settings. Now this one, I work with a lot. And my favorite thing here is customize image sizes. When you click on that, you see a whole array of different options. You need to physically go through and put a check mark on all the ones that you're interested in. So, for example, if 40 by 60 wasn't there, I need to check it. And so I want to go through and make sure that everything I like is there. Let's check on 16 by 16. Now, what happens if you're looking at this, and you go well wait a second, they don't have one that I need. For example, I would like a 24 by 60, I don't see it. So we're going to click on Custom Sizes, the plus button, and for our height we're going to type 24, and for our width, we're going to go up to 60, and then we're going to hit add, okay? And now, we have below, an option of 24 by 60. So, this is a really important menu, okay? Now, let's go back and see what else we can do. Image snap on, that's good, it just makes it easier to navigate between sizes. Show size labels. This is really important. I definitely recommend turning this off. When we export this and put it on a website or send it to a client, you don't want extra writing. And basically, if the labels are on, it's telling you the size below the picture, it just does not look good so let's get that off. Currency, watermarks, watermarks, those things I'm not interested in. Frame settings is interesting, you can come in here and do more features with that, but I do think it is robust as is, so we're not going to mess with that. Okay, the next one over is Organize. So if I'm working on this and I think I'm doing a great job and it's something I want to come back to, I can save the project. Or if I get interrupted and I need to come back to it, no problem. And then this one is great because it's how, once we're done, we get to make an image. And of course they have links to share it socially, but what I always do is I save it to my iPad, and from there I can AirDrop it to my computer or my phone, or send it via email. So those are the two that I use. Okay, now let's move to the upper left. The first one is called Display. Now, display is just like what we saw in Bay Photo. It's these interesting ways in which to show images. And as you go through you can see the gray area, what they're going to look like. And some of those we actually recognize from Bay Photo, the the whirlwind was in Bay Photo, the one I wasn't crazy about was the blossom, that was there. I really liked the impressions, the one with the square in the middle and three on either side, so we're seeing the fact that we can take that Bay Photo beautiful display that they had and we can make our own. I mean, how cool is that? All right, so let's leave that for now. The next one is Image. Now, when I click on image, if I just tap it, it just throws up an image. So it's a 16 by 20. I can drag it by two fingers and make it different sizes. But, this is actually not something I like, so I'm going to double-click on 16 by 20, hit X on the lower left, and delete that. Or I could have hit the undo button in the upper section which would have been a little quicker. What I want to do with images is I want to hold, I want to press and hold, okay, force touch it, and now we have all the sizes. And we get to pick specifically what we want. So let's do our custom 24 by 60, that. Now we can take it, move it up, and I'm just holding it and dragging it where it is that I want it. Okay, like so, looks good. Okay, we'll leave it there for now. The next one over is Edit Wall. If I click on Edit Wall, it's asking me what do I want to do to this background? And I can, at the bottom it says Clear Current Wall, so a lot of times when I want to start over, just click on that and you'll start from the beginning. But this is where it gets really, really interesting. You can actually change this background image. Let's click on that. And we can choose from stock backgrounds, choose from Library, from Flicker, DropBox, or take a new photo. If you take this, take a photo of a space of a client's living room or bedroom, you could plug it into this program which is brilliant. What I use, though, is I use the stock backgrounds. And they sell a series of backgrounds. You can buy an entire pack, this pack is 29.99, this pack is 39.99, or you could purchase them individually. So what I often do is you can see this one is unlocked, that means I went in and purchased that. So the purchase price was four dollars and 99 cents. I don't need all of these, so it's more affordable for me to pick out a few that I like and go from there. But if I wanted to switch, so let's go to one that I do own. So let's go, let's go to that one that I unlocked, I really liked that one. Yes, beautiful dining room table. There it is, and now I switched the background in just a beautiful setup here. So, really, really well-designed app. I've even got some light and shadow from the lights coming in, just so cool. Let's go back to Edit Wall, there's a couple things that I want to add to it. I can then take this background image here. And we can do some things to it, okay? So of course, we can change the background, right? So we can also add a single image, that's the same thing as clicking on that, so we, again, the shortcut would be to click on Plus Image. Okay, add multi-image displays, so bring up the displays. So again, as with many apps, there's more than one way to do it. And then of course we can clear it. Now, there's one here that says Change Background Image Colors. But it's grayed out, and what that means is for this particular stock image, they're not allowing it. But, let's go ahead and change the image one more time, so we're going to go back to our stock. And let's take something that would work for the piano, let's try this, and edit wall. And now it enables me to change background image colors. I'm going to click on that, and you're going to notice these color wheels. And this is just a great feature. I can click on any color wheel, and then I can change how dark or how bright that color is and of course, on the wheel, I can select a wide range of color. Very powerful. Okay, not only can I do that for the paint on that wall, but I can do it for the light shade. So everything that has a color wheel you an do it for. So let's click on the light shade, and let's make those an orange-ish color there. Okay, what else can I do? Edit wall changes, background. Yeah, how about the blanket? Maybe a little gray, and what else can I do? And it looks like the actual headboard there. I mean, just really creative options. Let's just keep it nice and white. And there's the new bedroom. We've got the brown shades, the gray wall, the gray pillows and I can go from there. So, a really robust program, and those are the basic features up top. And what I'd like to do now is put an image in here and show you what you can do to it.
