Experiment with pointillist techniques
- In this movie I'm going to look at the Pointilize filter which will simulate the Pointillism painting style. Here we see a couple of images by Georges Seurat, painted in the late 19th century, that use this style. There are a couple of points I want to make about using this filter that might not be obvious. And the first is that, because Pointillism is broadly analogous to the CMYK printing process where inks are mixed as pigment, then you will get a much better result if you're working in the CMYK color specs. This is the CMYK version, if we compare this to the RGB version, we see that there are a lot of bright and distracting color pixels that are introduced in the RGB version. I'll to switch to my beginning file. So the first thing I want to do, assuming that my image starts out in RGB, is convert the image to CMYK. From the Edit menu I will choose convert to profile, and I would convert to my working CMYK profile but if I was converting to a different profile, I could choose…
