Enhancing and inverting a mask with Levels
- [Instructor] In this movie we'll take that subtraction mask that we created in the previous movie and we'll both boost the contrast and invert the effect using the levels command. Now just to make sure we're working as non-destructively as possible the first step will be to duplicate the existing alpha channel by dragging it and dropping it onto the tiny page icon at the bottom of the channels panel. Next you want to go up to the image menu choose adjustments and choose the levels command. Or, again, you can press control L on the PC or command L on the Mac. Now notice our histogram. It is extremely tiny and nudged way over to the left hand side meaning that all we have to work with is a bunch of shadow detail and nothing more. But just to give you a sense of what we're looking at this lump right here represents the comparatively bright background. And this stuff, over on the left hand side represents the foreground detail including the bright stuff inside the shirt. And so the…
