Editing a filter mask
- [Narrator] In this movie, I'll show you how to edit a filter mask, which allows you to mask away the effects of smart filters here inside Photoshop. So notice in the layers panel, directly above the names of the two smart filters, is this white thumbnail. And that is the filter mask. By default it's white, so that the two filters are effecting the entire image. But you can mask away the effects of filters, by painting with black. And so for example, if I go ahead and switch to the brush tool, which you can get by pressing the B key. Initially I get the universal no cursor, and that's because my smart object is selected, and I can't paint directly on a smart object container here inside Photoshop. So instead, what I have to do is click on the filter mask to make it active. And now I get a brush cursor. All right, now I'll go ahead and increase the size of my brush by pressing the right bracket key. And I'll right click inside the image window. And just for the sake of demonstration…
