Cropping in Photoshop, not Camera Raw
- In this movie, we're gonna both straighten and crop the grouper, so he goes from this to this. And we're gonna do so inside Photoshop. Now a question that might arise is why do it in Photoshop? Why not crop the image in Camera Raw? And the reason is, if you're eventually gonna take the image into Photoshop anyway, as a Smart Object, which we need to do because Photoshop is gonna give us more control, where getting rid of the divers is concerned, then you want to crop inside Photoshop as well, because the communication between Camera Raw and Photoshop, where at least cropping is concerned, leaves something to be desired. And let me show you what I mean by that. I'm gonna start things off by renaming this layer because obviously it's no longer untreated. We'll call it "supergrouper" instead, and then I'll double-click on its thumbnail in order to bring up the Camera Raw interface. And now let's say I grab my crop tool, which I can get by pressing the "C" key. And I'd want to make sure…
