Creating a realistic pointillism effect
- [Instructor] In this movie we'll see how you can achieve a pointillism effect inside Photoshop. And just so you and I are in the same page, here is perhaps the most famous work of pointillism in the world, and that's "The Sunday Afternoon" by Georges Seurat. And notice if I zoom in on this woman holding an umbrella here, you can see that the artist created the entire painting by laying down individual dots of paint over the course of three years, as it turns out. Well, Photoshop offers a pointillism filter that operates much more quickly, but if you've ever tried it out, then you probably wrote it off as looking nothing like this painting whatsoever. And just to demonstrate what I mean, I'll go up to the filter menu, choose "pixelate," and then choose Pointillize. And for the sake of demonstration, I'll just go ahead and accept the default cell size of 10 after which point I'll click "OK" in order to apply that change. And as you can see we end up with a bunch of dollops of paint…
