- So, now that we have the basic foreground and all the surrounding areas, what we're going to do is work on the sky. Right now, it's just pitch black. We want some stars back there. So, the first thing I'm gonna do is actually create a star brush. I'll create a new file here and size doesn't matter. In fact, we can bring this down to 500x500. OK, that's good enough. Click OK. And I'll turn on my grid. I wanna see the grid on this one. So, there's my grid, just so I can see how things are gonna be moving.
So now, what I'm gonna do here, is I'm gonna take black and give myself a nice, soft edge brush. K and we could be much smaller and let's see what it's gonna do. That's what it's gonna do since it's got no opacity, let's go there, OK there's my opacity. Good. Alright. So. Let's go in there and let's just erase, whoops. I got yellow for the background. There we go. There we go. Everything is gone. Now, I'm gonna take my paintbrush, which right now, does that and I'm gonna give it a little spacing.
Let's go in here to the brush engine and we'll give it a little more spacing. Good. It's very soft. And I'm gonna go down here to transfer modes and what I wanted to do is I want it to run out of paint. So, I'm gonna set it to fade and we're gonna try 45 and see what that's going to do. And let's do a little test here. That's a little too long. So, let's go, do it with a 25. That's gonna be good. Alright, so, let's just erase what we got.
OK and then, right here, in fact, I can see right now, because of my angles of my paper here, let's go with a 20. We'll do a 20. That should do it. Alright, so, I'm gonna click right here in the center of this guy right there. I'll come straight up here, hold down my shift key and click. See, it created that. Now I'm gonna go right back here to the center again, right there, come down this direction and click. I'll hold down my shift key, which connects from point to point. OK so now, what I'm going to do now is I'm gonna go right here to the center again, except I'm going to lower that distance.
So, I'm gonna bring my fade down to about, let's say 12 and I'll click right there in that center again, coming this direction and shift, click. Click in there, shift, this direction and there. So now, I can do one more little shift. Let's bring this down to about, let's say seven. That's a good number. And I'll make the brush a little bit smaller too. We're gonna click in that center, come in this direction, shift, click.
There this. Here, that way. And that way. Then, I'm gonna make a nice big brush and I'll bring the opacity down to about a 40 and just kinda hit it right in the center there a couple of times. Let's make it bigger. And give it a little hit right there in the middle. One more, there you go. So, I got that. I'm gonna select that. And turn it into a brush. See? There's the brush. Click OK. So now, I come over here and in my sky back here, way back here, let's create a layer on top right there 'cause I like to do things in layers And I'm gonna go ahead and fill that layer with black and I'm gonna give it some noise.
Add noise. Give it a lot of noise, whole lotta noise, just like that. Click OK. I'll get in real close, we see that it's just noise. Lot of black and whites with the little sprinkling of grays. So I wanna create a sky full of stars. So what I'm gonna do is introduce some grays, by giving this a little blur more. See? Now I got more grays in there, which means that I have more room to play with this thing. So what I'm gonna do is, I'm gonna go into my levels and I'm gonna push all the blacks all the way down to about this area here and bring my whites in.
Make em almost meet. Click OK. And there you can see that I've got this nice little star field back there. So then, with white, and that paintbrush that I just created, which right now is gonna do that. Let's bring that opacity back up to 100% and as you can see, it does that. But, that's not what we want. So, what I'm going to do is I'm gonna bring the brush size way down. Kinda put a couple of those little stars here and there, different sizes. Just in key little spots so they start to have little twinkles.
Little twinkly stars. So this starts to look more like a, that kind of a starry sky. One more way over there and a little tiny one right there. See? There we have our starry sky. Now, in the next movie, we're gonna start introducing the people that have to deal with this environment. This is kinda like a prison system and they're looking for a way out. So, we're gonna have to put the people into this scene.
