- [Instructor] One of the easiest ways…to hand-tint a photograph,…would be to use Photoshop's fill layers.…Now before I add the first fill layer,…I'd like to select the area that I want to fill.…I'll tap the w to select the quick select tool,…and click and drag over the boat area.…I'll select the shadow, too, that's fine.…Then if I needed to refine any of these edges,…I could tap the l key to access the lasso tool,…hold down the Shift key to add to my selection,…and if you ever want to change that marquee so that it's…more precise,…you can tap the Cap Locks key on.…
Then when I hold down the Shift key,…we can see those crosshairs.…That's going to be where I drag…in order to add to the selection.…I'm going to make a loose selection here,…and then just drag right across…to grab the rest of the boat.…I'm not going to be too exact,…because I actually want sort of a loose look…when I hand color this.…Underneath the Layer menu,…I'll choose New Fill Layer,…and then Solid Color.…
Before I apply this new layer,…I want to be sure to change the blend Mode to Color.…
