Join Deke McClelland for an in-depth discussion in this video Creating guides from a shape layer, part of Photoshop CC 2014 New Features.
- The 2014 edition of Photoshop CC…also allows you to create guides from a shape layer.…Let's say that I want to surround my moon with an ellipse…I'll start by establishing a single vertical guide…down the center of the image…by going up to the view menu and choosing new guide layout.…If you're working along with me,…you're going to see those same settings…that you applied in the previous movie.…I'm going to go ahead and change the number of guides to two…and I'll tab to the width value…and press the backspace key or the delete key on the Mac…to get rid of it, and then I'll click okay.…
Now with my color panel up on screen,…I'm going to go ahead and change the foreground color…to a bright red,…just so we can distinguish the shape…that I'm about to draw.…Now I'll select the ellipse tool…from the shape tool fly-out menu.…I want to draw the ellipse from the center outwards…so I'll start right here at the intersection…of the vertical and horizontal guides…and I'll drag out like so…and then I'll press and hold the alt key…
