Creating a cool light effect

- [Narrator] Hello friends, this is Chris. And welcome to another Photo Tools weekly quick tip. In this week's episode, we are in Photoshop and here we'll look at how we can use the polygonal lasso tool to make a selection which we will convert into an adjustment. Well here it goes. With this photograph that I captured, of this lighthouse, I want to use the polygonal lasso tool, which we can find right here, to make a shape, kind of an illustration which looks like light coming out if the lighthouse. How do we do that? Well with this tool you simply click, reposition the cursor, click again, move, and then click, move, and then click. And then go all the way back to where you started. And that will then give you your selection. Next now, is the adjustment. For the adjustment, let's keep it simple and use brightness in contrast. As I drag the slider, you'll notice it will just affect the area which was selected. Perfect, so I have my first shape right there. Now I need another one. Well, we can do this again, right? Just go ahead and click, and then move, and click, and move. And in this way we can reposition the cursor. Go all the way back to the beginning. Once you have that in the right spot, click on the adjustment again. And then here you have it, the ability to change that part of the image. And with that, this particular technique is a wrap. Thanks for joining me this week. I hope you enjoyed it. Have a wonderful day. And I'll see you next time. Bye for now.
