- [Instructor] Let's see how we can create a simple vector portrait starting with an image in Photoshop. We're going to prepare the image so that we can get a good result from image trace in Illustrator, and then we will colorize the result in Illustrator. So first of all in Photoshop I'm going to come to the background layer and convert this to a smart object so that I can apply some filters to it. The filters I will be applying are smart sharpen, at a massive amount, the maximum amount and a radius of six pixels. This amount of sharpening photographically looks terrible but it is going to make it easier to convert the image into a line drawing. Next, I'll come to stylize and to oil paint. I'll experiment with the amount of stylization and cleanliness. I'm going to go for three and two respectively. Lighting is deselected.
