Converting a portrait to black and white

I don't know about you but for me there's just something about black-and-white, there's something fascinating about being able to convert our images to black-and-white. And here we're going to take a look at how we can continue to do that using the Black-and-White Adjustment layer. In particular, we'll look at how we can work with Presets and then we'll also explore a couple of techniques we can use in order to add a tint or toned effect to our black-and-white conversions. Let's go ahead and click on the icon to open up our Black-and-White Adjustment layer. Here I'll press the Spacebar key then click and drag to move this image over.

This is a photograph of my two oldest daughters and two of their best friends down at the beach, and when I convert this to black-and-white, it just feels more timeless.
