Color correction pt. 3: Dark Skin Tone

In this next movie, we'll be working on the image "michael_costa.psd". Double-click that one to open it up in {italic}Photoshop.{plain} This is a photograph provided for us by one of my good friends Michael Costa. He is a wedding and fashion photographer and here we have this beautiful portrait, yet there is a color shift, so we need to correct the file. Alright, well once we have darker tones of skin, things get a little bit more tricky and our recipe isn't going to be necessarily as close as we've seen in some of the other movies. Well, for starters, we want to grab our eyedropper and set a sample point.

I set a sample point for us here in this area, it's a pretty good area of skin. There isn't any makeup on that area, we're getting a good patch of skin and then in our info palette, I've changed my eyedropper to CMYK colors. So you want to d...
