Join Chris Orwig for an in-depth discussion in this video Cleaning up skin and sharpening, part of Photoshop CS3 Portrait Retouching Essentials.
In the previous movie we've worked on this file andreina.tif.…we are going to be working on that one in this movie as well.…Open that one up in Photoshop and zoom in a little bit.…Now one of the things that we can do to actually reduce variation in skin or smooth skin or enhance skin…to sharpen; now that doesnt really make sense.…But, think about it for a second, if you sharpen the details…around the skin will make the skin seem softer because something else is sharpen near it.…So what we are going to do is look at how we can improve the tone of this particular image…and then sharpen it so that we can improve the skin.…
Alright, let's create a New Layer.…let's do that by way of shortcut, Shift+Command+N on a Mac, Shift+Control+N on a PC.…let's call this layer Lighten.…Next, we are going to press S on the keyboard to select the Clone Stamp tool.…From the options bar, we are going to choose a Blend mode of Lighten, a nice low Opacity.…I will try 20% here, and we are then going to brighten up this particular image.…
