Changing focus with the Blur Gallery (CC 2014)
In the next few movies, I want to introduce you to a family of filters, which are all located in what's called the Blur Gallery. You can access these filters from the Filter pull down menu, and here these will allow you to shift your focus in your photographs by adding different types of blur. Typically, when you're working with these effects, you'll want to do this work with them as smart objects. So let's begin our project by navigating to the Filter pull down menu. And then, next, I choose Convert for Smart Filters. Go and click on that menu item and this dialog will tell us, it's going to convert the layer to a smart object. That's what we want to have happen. So let's click OK. Next, we'll go back to the Filter pull down menu. We'll navigate to Blur Gallery and let's start off with Iris Blur, because this is perhaps the easiest to understand and to work with, at least initially.
