Applying a gradient

- [Instructor] Here are three different ways of adding a gradient to type. All of these different techniques allow you to keep your type as editable. The first is to add the gradient as an adjustment layer. Here we have our adjustment layers, the second of which is Gradient. Now because I know I want the gradient fill layer to be clipped to the type layer, I'll hold down the Option or ALT key as I choose it. I now have this intermediate dialog, and I can check Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask. To choose the gradient, I'll click on the gradient to go to the Gradient Editor. And here I can use one of these presets, or I can add additional presets. I formally upended Metals, and I'm going to use this one, Gold. Now for any gradient, you can come and change the colors. If I wanted to simplify this for example, I could remove these color stops. If you want to remove a color stop from the gradient, you just drag it off the gradient bar.
