Join Deke McClelland for an in-depth discussion in this video Applying color adjustments to Smart Objects, part of Photoshop CC 2015 New Features.
- One of the more intriguing new features…in Photoshop CC 2015…is your ability to apply color adjustments,…things like levels and curves,…directly to Smart Objects,…as opposed to working…with Adjustment Layers.…So, what I've got here is an image…that I captured using a GoPro Hero 4,…and then I processed it,…and converted it to black and white…inside Camera,…and then introduced it…as a Camera Smart Object into Photoshop.…And you can see that I've got a high pass filter…assigned to it as well.…
Now let's say I wanna colorize this image…using one of the best adjustments there is,…which is Gradient Map.…So normally in the old days,…I would have gone up to the Layer Menu,…chose New Adjustment Layer,…and then chose the Gradient Map command.…And assuming I want this Adjustment Layer…to affect this one image only,…I would turn on in this check box right here…Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask.…But now, if that's what you wanna do,…if you wanna affect one layer…and one layer only,…and it already happens to be…a Smart Object,…
