- [Chris] Hi, I'm Chris, and welcome to Photo Tools Weekly. In this week's episode we will look at how we can add some visual interest to an outdoor portrait. Here you can see the portrait as it appeared out of the camera. In Lightroom I'm going to start off by cropping the image. I'll tap the R key to select the crop tool. Now some people when they crop, they love to have the crop ratio locked down so it's exactly the way the camera recorded it. For me, when I work with portraits, I often like to have them a little bit different than that, so I often bring in the top and the bottom. It's just something about often portraits being a little bit too stretched out and tall, and it's just one of the idiosyncrasies of the way I work. Then next I'm going to go ahead and rotate this a little bit, and just look to create a little bit of a different crop. I'm also trying to bring this above the knee.
